Ballito Manor used to be great...
It was not the first time we stayed at Ballito Manor, but this was probably the worst experience so far. The apartment shows the signs of deterioration: starting with the front door - it is necessary to fiddle with the lock to unlock the door, but locking it - is another story. You need to get the key and the interior handle into a position where the key would catch and actually turn the latch and lock the door.
The balcony door doesn't lock at all - the lock is broken, it slides into place, but it cannot be locked.
A few things come off, like the towel ring in one of the bathrooms, the shower door in the main bathroom doesn't close with ease, a missing handle on one of the draws, the gas braai that doesn't start, and then never gets cleaned (services during the week?). Towels are worn, no floor mats in the bathrooms. I can continue... And I have a baseline to compare to.
Another aspect that was really annoying - the renovations in surrounding apartments - drilling, and knocking, loud conversations, etc. We liked this place as it was quiet and one could relax, now it is worse than a busy hotel.
Complex regulations are not observed - people walk in and out till late, slamming doors, talking loudly in the corridors. On one night they decided to have a braai till after midnight with all the attributes of a small party - chat and laughter, which is ok during the day, but is absolutely not ok if you are trying to sleep.
So to sum it up - it is still okey-ish, but not what it used to be, and there is no good reason for it, really, it is still a great location, and a few touches could change this all.

First class accommodation. Clean well maintained & a good position. Really had nothing to complain about. Only issue I could not get the DSTV to work but this was not a great issue for us. May be something to take into account when a family with younger kids are staying there.
