Dreadful customer experience
I should preface this by saying that I, in fact, never got to stay at this establishment at all.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a lady who informed me that it was 'overbooked', despite the fact that I had in fact booked (and payed) days before. I was sent down the road to Warrens Guest House, which is a star short of Fawncastle.
In essence, I payed a four-star rate for three-star lodging.
All this without even an explanation or a heads up from the manager, Rob.
You would think that a customer who booked and payed in advance would - at the very least - be notified before arriving at the establishment that they would have to stay elsewhere; especially if that place is not the same standard of what was originally booked and payed for.
Absolutely atrocious customer management.

Upon arriving at fawncastle estate, we were told booking was made for us at White House guest house a few streets across the road. No reason was provided as to why do we have to sleep at another guest house. White House guest house was below the standard. The decor, the bedding, the awful smell in the room as well as unclean bathroom.
I'm not happy with Fawncastle at all for the awful experience I had in Kzn.
Lovely establishment. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Thank you.

The staff are very lovely an accommodating people. We had all we needed and the rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was plenty. There was two negatives though, that being the dust particles that caused a hay-fever attack that lasted the entire first night of our stay. However upon explaining this to the day-cleaner she washed out the blanket provided and this in itself made a major difference in my comfort level. The second issue was that although the air-con switched on it failed to work so the best option was to switch it off completely and use the extra blanket provided after it had been washed. But I must add that while those 2 point were not ideal, upon complaining that I myself could not sleep due to my mothers heavy snoring the keeper put me up in an empty room free of charge which was quite hospitable. All-in-all everything turned out nicely.

I needed a weekend to rest and get away from the Johannesburg rush with my girlfriend and Fawncastle made that possible with superb facilities and an outstanding room. It was beautifully quiet, the well-placed trees made for a tranquil setting and the staff were all of great help. The only downside is that we were given a family room instead of the honeymoon suite that I had booked but other than that we absolutely enjoyed our stay.
