A Hiccough In Our Favour
I booked two evenings for me and my girlfriend, but, unfortunately, when we got there the cottage I booked was already taken. There must have been a miscommunication or something. We were then given a larger room; so we actually gained through this mishap. The room we ended up having was spacious with a full kitchen and a TV with a complete DStv bouquet. The rooms and the bathroom were also kept clean and inviting. The atmosphere of the farm was so calming, and the view of the beautiful hillside really lets one's nerves at ease. It's also close enough to Vryheid if you'd want to quickly go grab something to eat or drink, but far enough that you can appreciate the stillness and tranquillity of the surrounding farmland. All in all I'm a bit disappointed at the double booking, but I am more than happy to go back again. We really had a pleasant stay. If you don't mind the odd rooster giving you a wakeup call, I would recommend this as a wonderful destination.

Lovely farm stay
We were really pleasantly surprised by this accommodation. The farm was great for the kids and they encouraged us to help out and see things - involving our children in farm life which they just loved. We fed animals and participated in things. There is a playground and lots of places to explore. The rooms were clean and spacious, even with the 4 beds that we had in it. Petra was a friendly, welcoming host and made things very easy. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay!
This is the place to stay if you dislike noisy towns. Peaceful farm setting, great old historic house, friendly farm animals (wild and domestic) and great hosts. The owners also know a lot about the history of the area, including the historic battles between Zulus, British and white South Africans.
Highly recommended! I will stay there again.

Lovely Relaxing Environment.
We really enjoyed our overnight stay there after a long day of motorcycling. Louis and Petra were very welcoming and the small 'war museum' was a interesting added benefit! Great place and will definitely return in the future.

Family stay at Petra's
We all had an amazing time. Petra and Louis were so welcoming and helpful. Our stay exceeded all expectations and it was a perfect start to our holiday in South Africa. Our memories will last forever and the youngest children talk about it non stop! They especially liked the animals and talk about Samson all the time! We all have so many happy memories thanks to Petra and Louis for everything.

Lovely setting and very accommodating
We travelled to Vryheid for a funeral and decided to stay somewhere out of town. Petra's Guesthouse was perfect for this. It is very comfortable and Petra is very accommodating.

Amazing weekend retreat
What an experience! Petra and Johan were so friendly and informative about the running of their farm, we even got to experience the milking of the cows! Petra's family home is delightful and steeped in history. Her love for animals is seen throughout the range of farm animals - turkeys, donkeys, ducks, geese, cats, dogs, chickens, cows .... Johan has a real interest in military memorabilia which delighted us as we especially stayed in this area to visit old battle sites. Our lives are richer for staying here. Clean, spacious, modern accommodation - what more do you need? We definitely will go back again!

Petra was very friendly and welcoming. All was good with the accommodation. Room a bit hot at this time of year - a screen door or trelli would have been nice to get a bit of air circulation. Unit was very well equipped, clean and very good value. Louis was great and shared interest in local history with a very knowlegable visit to Nkambule battle site nearbye.
