Complete & utter disappointment
I had stayed at the hotel on a previous occasion for business, and so when I had the opportunity to visit Cape Town again, I was thrilled at the idea of visiting the vibey Fire & Ice again.
When we arrived, I was practically ignored by the staff member at the desk, and had to in fact greet her first. Twice I had to call the desk to complain that there was no hot water in the room. I was told to just let it run until it gets hot - considering the dire water crisis that we are facing and the fact that the Cape is currently on water restrictions.
When I went to check out, I was informed that there was an outstanding amount on my bill!!!! FOR PARKING!!! I refused to pay it.
The vibe of the theme - FIRE & ICE - is totally gone from the hotel. The staff were unfriendly and actually downright rude and dismissive. Never ever again....will I be staying at this hotel.
In sharp contrast - I stayed at the Knysna Protea Hotel on the same trip. The staff bent over backwards for us! We were informed on check-in that there was secure parking but at a cost, which I had no problem paying. We were offered breakfast at the hotel and ended up extending our stay there - purely because of the fantastic service.
