Thandile Country Lodge & Restaurant

We had a wonderful time at Thandile Country Lodge & Restaurant. What I enjoyed most is the tranquility and natural status of the place. Also Magdel is such a wonderful hostess and we enjoyed the food as well.

Just returned from a delightful stay at Thandile, an easy (except for the last 4km) two hour drive from Johannesburg near Bela Bela. I was looking for a restful inn, not too big and commercial, but not a bed and breakfast in someone's home, and this was the ideal combination. Set on a game farm, the giraffes, zebra, and horses graze peacefully outside your window, with the geese, pigs and family dogs and cat adding to the tranquil, rustic atmosphere. The rooms in the excellently restored Pierneef designed farmhouse were beautiful and the food copious and delicious. Magdel and Kobus couldn't have been more welcoming hosts and we look forward to returning.

The hospitality of owners Magdel and Kobus was unlike any other I have experienced. It was like being invited in to their home as old friends. The farm is beautiful with a river and dams as well as trails to run on.

My kids and I had a wonderful stay at Thandile Lodge. It is a laid back farmstyle set-up in a tranquil lowvweld where the stresses of a metropolitan city like Johannesburg are non-existing. Great treatment by owners and staff.Keep up the good work guys. Game viewing on the mountain side was also fulfilling and it would have been more exciting had the weather behaved well. I wish I had a 4x4 to enjoy to the fullest-next time.

A lovely casual relaxed atmosphere. Our hosts were fantastic - friendly and organised. The room was lovely too. Cell phone reception was also great. Lots of lovely animals running around and a wonderful old fashioned "stoep" (patio) to laze around on. The restaurant food was really great. We'll definitely go there again.
