The Whaling Station B&B and Spa

Our stay at the Whaling Station was disappointing. We were met by someone who was not trained, did not know about our booking and said the owner "was playing golf" at 7pm. After some time after expressing our dissatisfaction we were given a room. Cheap coffee was provided, no soap in the bathroom, no blinds or window dressing in the bathroom, no hairdryer. Next morning at breakfast there was no filter coffee made, no owner or manager to welcome us, no condiments available. Then when we were leaving we were confronted about payment which we had done more than a week before. The owner was phoned and I had to explain payment was made. Totally unprofessional. Will not go there again.

Our family made a one-night stopover en route back to Durban from Cape Town. We received a warm welcome from the manager on duty 'Stoneheart' and then fell into the plump and pristine king-size beds. We woke to the scent of fynbos and managed a dip in the small but beautifully appointed pool looking over the bay. After a delicious cooked breakfast, it was back on the road. Recommended for quality, service and value though there is no longer a spa.
