Cosy Seaside Gettaway
Had a lovely getaway to Ambre Cottage. Darryl was very friendly and helpful. It had everything we needed to make some simple meals and is amazingly close to the botanical gardens. Highly recommended for a quiet, private getaway.

Great weekend
What a wonderfully peaceful experience.
Place was clean and tidy and shower was great! Being along your own bedding though if you are fussy about sheets.
Will be visiting again soon.

Value For Money
Our stay at Ambre cottage was great. Quiet lots to do. Close enough to Hermanus to enjoy the award winning wines.
The owner Darryl was friendly and willing to help where he could.
If you have the chance just take that weekend off and relax at Ambre Cottage you won't regret it

Amazing!
This was an absolutely perfect getaway for us. Peaceful, beautiful and everything we needed was provided. Bettys Bay was magical as always, we will definitely be coming back.

Disappointing
The cutlery and crockery items were all filthy. All the utensils, crockery, pots and pans required cleaning before they could be used. The dishwashing liquid provided was watered down to an absurd level. The oven contained a tray that also not been cleaned.
All in all this left a rather sour taste. When we reported this on our departure, no apology was forth coming nor was there any acknowledgment of the problem.
It was very peculiar response and as such the cottage only receives a 1 star rating.

Wonderful stay
We enjoyed our stay at Ambre, it is a nice quite area, very close to Betty's Bay attractions. Darryl, the owner of the cottage, was a wonderful host. He made contact with us very early on giving us very detailed directions and useful information regarding amenities which we found to be very helpful. If you are looking for a good old tranquil and laid back chill zone, the Ambre is for you.

Blissful getaway
My husband and I had a lovely mid-February weekend getaway at Ambre Cottage. Very private and secluded, lovely view, a beautiful walk down to the beach and very close to the botanical garden which is a must-see.
I would recommend this to anyone who needs a quiet break from the city. We will most definitely be back!

Very chilled venue
We stayed for 3 nights. Was very nice and quiet and relaxing. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Overall all we had a good time. It is a very quiet and peaceful place, if you are looking for more of a party vibe this is not the place you.

This is a no no!!!
No hot water, oven not working properly, bedding not clean, overall this was no pleasure staying at this cottage, I would advise nobody to rent the cottage.

The following was not up to standard :
Bathroom,beds and there was a lot of the owner\s stuff in the cupboards.
Will not recommend this to anybody for the price we pay!

The bathroom shower has a new shower head replacement.
And shower mats, as well as new shower curtains. The reasonably new bedsets have newly acquired sheets and duvets.
The stuff in lower sink cupboards (cleaning items, newspapers for braai, national geographic mags)have all been removed.

Perfect setting

Total tranquillity
Ambre Cottage is the perfect space to get away from city living. It is perfectly positioned to have the fullest view of the ocean and it is just super amazing. The place itself is cool and has all you need, so just bring along your wines and dines. Thanks so much Darryl!
