Draaihoek Lodge - not what it promised to be!
We booked and paid deposit for the Room or Unit Info: Luxury Manor House (1) on arrival we where met by Marietjie Basson the owner,and put into one of the luxury double en suite. The room was very good with a fire place(but very little wood and the wood was wet), you also had to buy xtra wood if you wanted more...it is winter at the moment... a bar fridge with only water in it. We had no tv in the room and also no wi-fi or even cell phone reception. There was not a bath only a shower and the floors was very cold. No slippers and no gowns. We pick the manor house special because we wanted luxury and space to enjoy the 3 days and relax as if at home and do some planning for a trip later the year to Italy. We could not do any of this because of no internet connections. Staff was friendly and always helpful. Breakfast was good. We had dinner the Friday night, good selection on the menu and overall a good dining experience. We did not find the manager very friendly and helpful. If you want a break from technology this is you place, no view from rooms but if you go over the sand dunes you have a wonderful view and can go for a long walk on the beach. It just did not meet our needs for the weekend as we did not get what we booked for and was promised....

Gorgeous and romantic
The setting on the beach is spectacular! The walks on the beach, relaxing pool area and exquisite dining was so relaxing and felt like pure, glorious serendipity! Falling asleep with the sounds of the waves was extraordinary.

We booked 3 rooms for the family; all very large and comfortable with arm chairs as well as king size beds and soft cotton sheets. spacious and well equipped bathrooms; couldn't have been more comfortable. Big refreshing pool and a short board walk over the dunes to miles of pristine beach with seals, and wide variety of bird life. food was plentiful from an imaginative menu and freshly cooked, so waiting a little for cooking time was no chore (no kids!).
In short everything you would hope for if you are expecting a quiet comfortable rural retreat.

Beautiful beach, beautiful rooms. A little close to the main road, but that doesn't bother too much. Restaurant has great food and friendly service. Highly recommended!

A unique place in every respect. The huge and clean beach behind the dunes is unforgettable.
Spacious and charming accommodation in a beautiful coastal environment. The meals are prepared by the host on the spot; you may bring your own wine.

Stunning location and a fantastic place to stay
The lodge is located on a stunning white sand beach which stretches for miles and miles. We were the only people on it.
The rooms are luxurious.
The food was fantastic. The seafood platter was great value and the wine/beer is cheap. The breakfast was also excellent.
The staff are very friendly.
They also have a lovely heated outdoor pool to relax by.

Beautiful
Marietjie and the Draaihoek lodge staff were extremely hospitable. We checked in early and we were accommodated with a great smile. The rooms are stunning and the fireplace worked like a charm!! The food is delicious and the atmosphere in the restaurant is so relaxed and it felt like a home away from home.

The location is suburb and we enjoyed our stay at Draaihoek, but would not award it with 4 Stars. The rooms are clean and comfortable in our opinion. The oversize bed, quality linen and heated towel rail might be implied when reference is made to ‘luxurious’, our room needed some maintenance though - blinds, door, curtains and table lamp. The food was really good, but it takes a very long time to be served and the staff's service is not what you would expect from a 4 Star establishment. The staff are generally friendly when spoken to, but we did not experience the warm hospitality that the West Coast is known for. The fireplace in the room is cosy and perfect for cold days.
