Mzingazi Waterfront Accommodation

The apartment was in a lovely spot with good views however the what was inside was disappointing and felt neglected. The furnishings were basic an mismatched; if you sat on the settee you couldn't watch TV; the bathroom had one wall of unstained plywood which was obviously a repair but did not look nice; the towels were so thin and rough that a layer of skin was removed when you used them, our dogs have plusher; one ply toilet paper which should be a no-no when paying R890 a night; unfortunately it was not nice to be woken at 3 am each night by heavy footsteps from the apartment above. There is accommodation in Richards Bay which charges less but gives you the better things.

We spent three wonderful nights in a flat at the Mzingazi Waterfront Accommodation. The flats are clean, well-equipped and have lovely views of the marina. They are a short walk from restaurants. Best of all, however, are Kevin and Elsa who manage the property. They are some of the most wonderful, hospitable people we have met in 40 years of travelling. They helped my husband track me down when my plane was diverted to Durban, gave two weary voyagers a delicious breakfast, and provided great advice about places to visit in the area.
