The owners of Ocean Gorge have no concept of hospitality. There were no towels in the unit, no bath mats, no amenities, not even tea and coffee to make you feel welcomed. Mismatched crockery and cutlery and plastic table and chairs... generally a very unsatisfactory experience. They do have beautiful sea views, but it can't be appreciated as the accommodation is not up to any suitable standard. One star does not mean shabby!

Thank you for the constructive criticism. There seems to be a bit of confusion you had said to us that you made a private booking and did not come through any agent. Please be advised that we are a two star grading accommodation as shown on the SafariNow website. We are fully self-catering , therefore we do not provide bath towels and tea/ coffee , however if you had asked for bath towels or tea / coffee we would have gladly obliged. Sorry about the mismatched cutlery as it is very difficult to replace a set of matching cutlery every time it gets misplaced. Sorry the weather did not work in your favor that weekend. Thank you for giving us a overall rating of 80 % , unfortunately the 20% we have already explained to you above.

Lightning Visit

We had a great time at this holiday home. Unfortunately we only had planned two days and wished we had more time to spend.

Plus points:
- Good view of the Sea (Especially from Captains cabin)
- Near to the beach
- Good hospitality
- Great braai areas

A reasonable, cheap get away

The cottage was clean and tidy, the kitchen wasn't very useful for a long stay but good enough for a weekend stay.

We had to ask for towels - I'm not sure if this was an oversight or whether they don't normally provide them.

Access to the beach is limited - there's a path down but it could be difficult for those not so agile.

We enjoyed the stay, the owners were very accommodating and helpful.

Thumb's up: The apartment has exquisite sea view. Excellent place if you want peace of mind, just listening to the sound of waves. We enjoyed our stay and the owners were very kind.

For improvements: Change the toilet seat, it has permanent stains and improve of on cleaning, especial the bathroom.

Enjoyable stay 3 km from Ballito at the Sea

strong points: great sea view, comfortable balcony, spacious honeymoon flat in the first floor, spacious bathroom, well equipped kitchen, close to Ballito

weak point: no bath/shower curtain, no curtain at the glass between bathroom and bedsitter, too few hangers in bath.

Alltogether: well priced, value for money

I would stay there again.

Beautiful noise

Loved falling asleep with the sounds of waves crashing right next to the window. We stayed at pebble beach. The unit was private, but I felt that it lacked that personal touch. Firstly, we stayed for a week and there was only one toilet roll, luckily we realized it quickly and went out to buy some, this is the first time I have ever stayed somewhere, where I had to buy my own toilet paper, I feel it should be included in the price. Secondly, the apartment smelled, which was of putting! Other than that we had a great time but unfortunately won't be going back to ocean gorge.

We do provide a roll of toilet paper forguests that have just arrived. It is their duty thereafter to purchasetoiletries etc. It is a pity that the guests have not come and spoken to usabout these matters. The smell that the guest is talking about is a musty smellhere on the Dolphin Coast. It is important that the guests air the apartment.Humidity and close proximity to the ocean creates a different smell to inland.As a 2 Star rating we only provide essentials to the accommodation.

a little piece of paradise

We were pleasantly surprised to stay in number 2 with a spectacular view from the balcony.
We enjoyed exploring the untouched rock pools and private beach on the low tide. The staff were very friendly and our unit was clean and cosy. Thank you, Leon for your kind hospitality.

Thank you, Leon and Rebecca, for your hospitality. Minutes after arrival our overeager daughter had a nasty fall on wet steps that lead to the tidal pool and needed some stitches. Leon immediately got in his car and lead us to the nearest doctor! Thank you again. We enjoyed our stay very much!
