Well equipped and clean
We were in the area for a wedding and stayed at Rose Cottage.
A lovely well equipped cottage. The size is much bigger than expected. We will definitely book this accommodation again and also recommend to our friends and family.

Disappointing for many reasons, could do with basic painting and TLC
Establishments Response:
I am so very sorry that you found Rose Cottage “disappointing for many reasons”. I do understand about the painting job and have been waiting for a gap in guest bookings to address this which will probably only be in Winter – we unfortunately suffer damp. But please do send me a list of the “many” reasons you found “disappointing” so that I may look at these constructively. I believe that the rate is in line with an “old” farm cottage.
Thank you for staying and I do hope that your time in Elgin was enjoyable nonetheless.
Kind regards

Awesome location
Stayed at Rose cottage to attend a wedding in the area and found the accommodation to be fine. The bathrooms are very nice and there were more than enough towels with heaters, warm water bottles and a fireplace to heat the place up as it can get quite cold.
I found that the kitchen needs a good cleaning and some spots were really dirty.
The cottage is separated from the other houses on the property and is really lovely

Quaint house with all the amenities. Good base to explore the surrounding wine farms. The septic tank odour in the bathroom is quite foul and should be sorted out.

We had a great time at Rose Cottage. The view is wonderful and nature is right at your doorstep. The beds are warm and lots of towels to use.

Rose cottage Elgin
We really enjoyed our time in Rose Cottage. Elgin is a beautiful part of the Cape with lots of things to do and see. Mandy was extremely friendly and helpful to us. Thank you for a wonderful easter stay.

Rose Cottage
Enjoyed our short stay. Well equipped, comfortable and set in scenic beauty. We enjoyed our early morning walk to the dams to see the bird life. Highly recommended.

Beautiful!
Thank you so much for the great accomodation. We all had a lovely experience at the cottage, we wish we could have stayed for much longer.
Apart from the occasional buzz from the road, the cottage is still and you are completely surrounded by the tranquility of the birds singing and the breeze blowing! The scenery is magnificently beautiful!
We will be back for longer soon!

A little slice of peace and quiet
Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us! It is placed in such breathtaking scenery, close to wine farms, quaint restaurants and farms stalls with lovely bird life and two friendly dogs. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, spacious and homely. Thank you for a wonderful 3 days.

Relaxing
My stay was relaxing, but the broken road leading to the cottage was like a 4X4 trail. At all the guest houses I've stayed in they normally clean the house every morning before I return back to the guest house. If you got huge dogs in the surroundings or on the property, they must keep them in a enclosed area. Couldn't even braai outside because of the dogs(Boerboels) walking around the place I was staying in. I'm also a dogs love, I also got 2 Boerboel at home. Other than that my stay was relaxing.
Establishment's response
I am surprised at your review because when I did see you, you never mentioned any of these things to me. The “broken” road is in fact a very typical common farm dirt road with humps that help water run-off. All types cars can travel on this road but do need to go slow. Rose Cottage is not a guest house. It is a very inexpensive self- catering cottage which gets serviced before and after every guest stay. If you required daily servicing, I need to know in advance and could have gladly organised this at an extra cost. The “huge” dogs are in fact extremely friendly and gentle, despite the bad reputation that “Boerboels” have and they always come over to the cottage to greet guests who usually love them and spoil them which is why they go over. They particularly adore children. They are anything but vicious. They do wander about the farm independently which is paradise for them – I would never keep a dog enclosed, especially on a farm. I do however have a note on the website about the dogs because some people are just purely terrified of dogs whether they are big or small, vicious or not. It is then their choice if they want to come.
