Smugglers Cove Cottage

Unit was very dirty on arrival, spider webs everywhere. Locks and keys are very old and locks very difficult to open. Garage door lock not working properly and door extremely difficult to lift. No light in the garage. Furniture is very old, some chairs being held together with insulation tape. Bathrooms are terrible. Fittings are so outdated and mismatched. Shower head in second bathroom flops down all the time. Cannot take a descent shower. 2 single beds in main bedroom. what a joke. mattresses extremely hard. Fridge cannot be set colder. At the price we paid we expected a lot more. Saw other units in same complex that are in much better condition. I could never recommend this unit, not even at half the price.

ESTABLISHMENT RESPONSE:

In reply to Mr. Liebenberg’s complaints, we can only state that our Ramsgate agent had assured us that the unit had been cleaned prior to his arrival.
Our apologies re the difficult garage lock, which has now been replaced. Re Mr. Liebenberg’s complaint about the non-working garage light, we have to advise that this interior garage light works only at night, when the outside common property lights come on.
We have furnished our lounge with comfortable cane furniture, and most of our clients are very happy with the homely atmosphere of the cottage.
Unlike other units in the complex, we have not upgraded the original bathroom fittings, which may be outdated, but are certainly not mismatched. The bath, basin and toilet in the main bathroom all match perfectly.
We have taken note of the complaint re the problem in the second bathroom, and the shower head has been fixed.
Regarding Mr. Liebenberg’s comments about the beds in the main bedroom, we would like to point out that not only on the SafariNow description of Smugglers Cove Cottage, but also on our Information Pack sent out to all clients before their arrival, it is clearly stated that there are two three-quarter beds, made up separately and pushed together to form one king-sized bed.  
We have never received complaints about hard mattresses before, in fact most of our guests compliment us on the firmness of the beds in the main bedroom.
Our apologies re the lack of coldness of the fridge. We discovered that the fridge door had been held slightly open due to a misplaced fridge shelf, and this problem has now been attended to.
The rate that Mr. Liebenberg paid for a 7-night stay during the June school holiday period for a fully equipped cottage within walking distance of the beach was reasonable. In addition, Mr. Liebenberg booked for only two guests only, but more than two persons occupied the unit.
We have taken note of Mr. Liebenberg’s valid complaints and attended to them, but we do not feel that the majority of his complaints were justified. 

Had a wonderful stay at Smugglers Cove! A real home, clearly much loved by the owners. It's fully equipped, we lacked for nothing. It is old fashioned but in a nice homely way. Could do with a bit of a spruce up, but honestly we had no problems.
