Although this guesthouse is clean and nice, the atmosphere is unwelcoming and inhospitable.
From the first phone call to request that we drop off bags early, the lack of basic hospitality was evident. In South Africa it is commonplace to expect that a guesthouse will assist its guests with small requests such as this to make their stay easier - you cannot expect this at the Saffron. Such requests will come with a price tag and sneer from the owners.
It was an unpleasant stay and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

DearSir, I received a request by telephone call around 11h15 for an early checkin.as our normal check in time is from 14h00.
Iadvised that this was possible for a small fee (to cover the additional staff).
Theclient appeared on the telephone to agree so we proceeded to get the room readyand was available from 12h00.
Theclient then did not arrive until our normal check in time of 14h00.
Aftera discussion at check out the client stated that he had only wanted to drop offhis bags early and did not require an early check in.
Iremoved the charge from his bill.
I sincerely apologise for this misunderstanding on my part and will always checkwhat the actual requirements are for the client in the future.

Quite a pity i had so much to do during my stay at the Saffron, however i would definately return for some relaxation and tranquility that this beautiful place has to offer.
